Hi, my suggestion is for the case of filing a new bug for an extension <extension-name>: I suggest to automate the assignment of a default value for the URL field (populate with http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:<extension-name> ), which appears to be possible for at least bugs of extensions. Why ? Because one can only file an extension big in bugzilla if the extension is in the SVN repo, as far as I know. Optional, once: the "backlog" of old extensions bugs with no URL could be filled by a script.
No, this field is for links to related information, example: sites showing the issues, upstream bug reports etc etc
(In reply to comment #1) > No, this field is for links to related information, example: sites showing the > issues, upstream bug reports etc etc Yep, but as long as there is nothing entered and the field is empty, the "best target" is the extensions' page itself, and this is proposed: to fill in the extension's page url unless the reporter expressly added a different url.
I disagree. The extension name is already listed in the component field, which should correspond to a page in the extension namespace on MediaWiki.org for all extensions. If people want to find out more information, they just need to click on "Component" and look up the description for that specific component. My understanding of the URL field is the same as p858snake's.
I agree with p858snake and Casey, reclosing.
