Please enable the Narayam extension on Urdu Wikipedia (ur.wikipedia). Thanks
The keyboard layout first needs to be verified before deployment.
The input method is marked as beta now, we can remove it out of beta status once it is tested and stable.
Is Narayam ready for Urdu deployment now? Is there local community consensus for adding it?
For any configuration change, local consensus is required. Could you discuss the matter on the Village pump page of your wiki (or any more appropriate place) to confirm that this change is wanted by the community, and paste the link to the discussion here? Also, Narayam currently has 67 untranslated strings in Urdu, see https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special%3ATranslate&taction=translate&group=ext-narayam&language=ur&limit=1000&task=untranslated . However I cannot judge how important they are.
SPQRobin: COuld you answer comment 3 please?
(In reply to comment #3) > Is Narayam ready for Urdu deployment now? Is there local community consensus > for adding it? As Santhosh says, it needs to be tested (by Urdu speakers) and then it should be unmarked as beta, and then perhaps discuss on urwiki's village pump, and then it can be deployed. (Adding Amir in CC, he added it in r103659 during the Mumbai Hackathon.)
urdu.text, you commented on ur.wiki WebFonts, can you please get someone (or yourself) to test the beta for Urdu input method on translatewiki.net and tell us if it's ready for deployment?
I tested it briefly on translatewiki.net. Few comments: 1) The keyboard layout is outdated. The layout that is marked "urdu (phonetic)" in Linux should be used. DISCLAIMER: There is no consensus on a standard layout. 2) The extension should not be enabled by default. The user should be able to select it in "preferences." I dislike javascript heavy webpages. On "translate wiki", Firefox was complaining "a script on this page is taking too long." 3) There is already a gadget on ur.wikipedia to provide this functionality, but "narayam" appears to be better integrated. The above are my personal opinions and do not represent community consensus. (In reply to comment #8) > The above are my personal opinions and do not represent community consensus. Thank you, this is helpful. Could you please consult the community to have more opinions, especially on your point (2)?
This won't happen since Narayam is being replaced by ULS.
