When whitespace is squashed it is now reduced to a single whitespace. In some languages it is allowed (and common) to use a double space in some cases. This is not handled in well in squashWhitespace(), which compresses all whitespace into a single space. A solution could be to to leave double spaces as they are but compress all other sequences. This could be allowed on a per language basis. Such double spacing seems to be associated with sentence terminators, and as there is room for a short paragraph in the description, this can be a problem. Unless there are clear indication that this is critically wrong I propose we use whitespace compression into a single whitespace for now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentence_spacing_in_language_and_style_guides
It is possible to use multiple whitespaces with non-ASCII whitespaces for now.
