Just putting a few notes here: * MediaWiki extension project descriptions are all nearly useless ** mediawiki/extensions/Babel (MediaWiki extension Babel.) * Descriptions are inconsistent ** Some end with periods, others don't ** AJAXPoll has an unusually long description, which makes the suggestion drop-down menu look silly * May make sense to remove the project description in the suggestion drop-down menu altogether ** Unclear what value it's adding
(In the long run having one central place for a project description (e.g. DOAP file in repository) and using it in Gerrit, Bugzilla, www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Foobar , etc... might be an option.)
I just drop a generic (and useless) description on a repo at creation time. I'm lazy and don't know what repos are going to be for. Any repo owner can adjust their description. This metadata is stored refs/meta/config's project.config
