Homebrew (the OS X package manager) has this neat feature where you can simply type "brew create <url>" (where <url> is a link to some application tarball or Git repository). Brew then creates a skeleton package definition file for you and opens it in your $EDITOR. It will also attempt to sniff certain values (like the package's version) from the URL if it can. This pattern could work really well for creating MediaWiki-Vagrant roles!
ah, can even be an interactive one that asks you for dependencies and default values?
