Wikidatas search definitely needs to be fixed. Yes, editors can use Special:ItemByTitle and the other special page but if readers who have heard about the project and go to search something, they won't get any results. For example, if you search "Universe" (Q1), you will get no results.
The interesting thing is that the search bar has been at times decent and at times useless. That I could search an exact item title, say "Boston", and get nothing is a relatively new development. Previously, if I searched "Boston" I would get a listing of every item that had Boston in the English language title, description, and text. Or at least I think that is what I was seeing. We really should go back to that. Sven
I've marked this as highest priority and critical because the search functionality is a basic need of a website, and ours is fundamentally broken. This should be a top priority. Feel free to trout me if I did this wrong. Sven
I was seeing what Sven Manguard saw. Also, I'd suggest that searches should also match the aliases as well.
